Coventry City striker Norman Bassette has completed a loan switch to FC Kaiserslautern.
The Sky Blues have confirmed that the 21-year-old has cut short his loan with Stade de Reims in France before moving to the German club Kaiserslautern.
The 2. Bundesliga outfit have stuck an agreement for a six month loan with an option to buy at the end. Bassette joined City from Caen in the summer of 2024 and made 29 appearances last season, scoring twice.
However, he struggled to prove himself to Frank Lampard and has not actually played for the current manager since April and not started a Championship game in a year. He initially signed a contract through to 2028.
He was sent on what was supposed to be a season-long loan to Stade de Raims on September 1 since when he has scored twice in 13 games for the Ligue 2 club, who sit second in the table. He has made only six starts – and none since October, though.
A statement from Coventry City read: “We can confirm that Norman Bassette has been recalled from his loan at Stade de Reims in order to join 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Kaiserslautern on loan until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.
“The 21-year-old played 13 times, scoring twice, for Reims in the first half of the season and will now link up with the German outfit for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign. The forward made 29 appearances for the Coventry City last campaign and netted two goals.
“We would like to wish Norman all the best for his upcoming loan.”
