Emergency services are at the scene of a collision in Mallusk.

Firefighters, police, and ambulance responded to reports of a one-vehicle road traffic collision involving a Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) car on the Mallusk Road shortly after 5.30pm.

Three fire appliances and an ambulance attended the incident while police directed traffic.

At the scene, a marked Fire Service car appeared to have crashed through a hedge and come to a stop in a nearby field.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car before using a spinal board to free their colleague from the vehicle.

The driver of the car was transferred into the care of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

It’s unclear if the vehicle was responding to an emergency call when the collision happened.
