A road was partially cordoned off after a two-car crash. Emergency services were called to Borough Road in Birkenhead shortly after 6.45pm on Tuesday, January 6 following reports of a crash. Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) and North West Ambulance Service all attended the scene.

Photographs taken at the scene show a white Hyundai Ioniq with damage to the driver’s side, with the airbag appearing to have blown. A red Renault was also seen parked nearby with its hazard lights on.

No injuries were reported and the road has since reopened. A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said crews were alerted at 6.46pm and two fire engines arrived at the scene seven minutes later to find a crash involving two cars.

The spokesperson added: “Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident earlier this evening on Borough Road, Oxton, following reports of a road traffic collision (RTC).

“Crews were alerted at 18.46 and two fire engines arrived on scene at 18.53 to find an RTC involving two cars. Both were on all four wheels.

“All occupants were out on crews’ arrival and received precautionary checks from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).

“Fire crews worked to make the scene safe before handing over to Merseyside Police and leaving at 19.20.”
