A busy road has been closed due to debris falling from a bridge in East Ayrshire.

The A77 was shut in both directions, with emergency services attending the scene after concrete fell from an overbridge in Kilmarnock.

Traffic Scotland posted on social media that motorists should attempt to find alternative routes, with long delays expected.

Road network operator Amey’s incident support unit is also on site at the road, which runs from Glasgow to Portpatrick in Dumfries and Galloway.
