A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a horror crash that left three injured in Rochdale.
Emergency services were scrambled to Albert Royds Street at around 7:30pm on Thursday (May 1) following reports of a crash involving two vehicles. Three people were injured in the smash, with the extent of their injuries not yet known.
Officers at the scene arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of having a controlled drug and driving without due care and attention. He remains in custody for questioning.
Pictures from the scene showed a stranded black car in the road with damage to the bonnet and windscreen as fire crews and police worked to make the scene safe.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 7:30pm last night we were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Albert Royds Street in Rochdale.

“Officers attended and arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of having a controlled drug and driving without due care and attention and remains in custody for questioning at this time.
“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 3431 of 01/05/2025.”

Last night, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 7:35pm this evening (Thursday 01 May), two fire engines from Rochdale Community Fire Station along with the Enhanced Rescue Unit was Ashton were called to attend a road traffic collision near to Albert Royds Street, Rochdale.
“Crews arrived quickly and worked alongside Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe. Three casualties were transferred into the care of North West Ambulance Service.
“Firefighters were in attendance for around one hour.”
