A lucky Glasgow player struck gold after scooping up a £50,000 jackpot at the bingo on Hogmanay. The winner, who has not been named, ended 2025 on a high following her big win at Mecca’s Glasgow Forge club

She scooped up the big win while playing on the National Bingo Game after making a last-minute decision to go to the bingo. She is known to be a regular customer at the club, next to the Forge Market on Duke Street.

The big win is triggered when a player matches all the numbers on their ticket and claims a full “house” within the first 16 numbers being called.

Stephanie Donlin was the duty manager for the session at Mecca Bingo Glasgow Forge. She said: “It was relatively quiet for a Wednesday afternoon as lots of people were getting ready for Hogmanay. The winner had made a last-minute decision to come along to the bingo to get out of the house and she was totally shocked when she realised just how much she had won.

“Everyone in the club was so happy for her! When the win was confirmed, they started cheering!”

The New Year’s Eve win came as Mecca revealed that Glaswegians are the country’s luckiest bingo players, winning £7.5 million in prize money across the city’s three Mecca clubs during 2025

Stephanie added: “The latest jackpot is proof that you never know when the jackpot is going to be won! I can’t wait to make more winners in 2026.”
