The Shire cross named Bess passed their initial trial period for the force’s mounted section with flying colours.
Bess has come all the way from Wales, demonstrating a “laid-back attitude to life”.
Their progress in his development programme means they will be a fully operational Police Horse.
Once registered, Bess will support officers in tasks like proactive stop checks, gathering intelligence, making arrests, and policing busy events such as football matches.
Until then, Bess is out on patrol across the region as their training continues.
They encourage people to give them a wave if spotted.
