Nottinghamshire have signed Pakistan seamer Mohammad Ali on a short-term deal for the later stages of the upcoming season.

The 33-year-old, who has been capped four times at Test level and has featured in all formats for his country, is scheduled to join Notts for the last six matches of what will be their County Championship Division One title defence.

His spell at Trent Bridge will start with the white ball in the One-Day Cup competition.

It is with the red ball that Ali has made the biggest impact in his career, with 222 of his 332 wickets coming in first-class matches.

With Central Punjab in the 2022-23 season Ali played under now Notts assistant coach Paul Franks to win the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan’s domestic first-class title, as well as the 50-over crown.

“We’ve explored other opportunities to bring him to the club in the past, but this one felt like it was at a really good time for him and for us,” Franks told the club website., external

“It was Mohammad’s character and personality that really hit home for me when I coached him while in Pakistan.”
