The moment crime-busting police officers were caught chasing a man on Princes Street has been compared to an iconic Trainspotting scene.
The clip, which was captured on April 26 around 6.50pm by Iona Fyfe, shows cops sprint after a potential suspect as he dodges shoppers on the busy street.
The footage was shared online and was captioned: “It’s giving Trainspotting” as locals were reminded of the opening scene of the Edinburgh film.

The movie, which was released 29 years-ago stars Ewan McGregor as Renton and Ewan Bremner playing Spud.
The opening scene shows the pair sprinting down Princes Street after thieving items from shops. They are caught up in a police chase before Renton collapses on a car bonnet.
The movie is a black comedy based on the 1993 novel by Edinburgh’s Irvine Welsh. It follows a group of pals in the Scottish capital held together by their shared addiction of heroin.

Directed by Danny Boyle, other featured actors include Robert Carlyle and Jonny Lee Miller. The original was then followed up with a sequel – T2 Trainspotting – in 2017 featuring the same actors.
We previously reported Welsh confirmed he will publish a new sequel to Trainspotting which will see his iconic characters return.
The 66-year-old novelist is set to continue the life stories of Renton, Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie three decades after the cult novel was published in 1993, with the sequel focussing on the characters ‘finding love’ while trying to put their troubled past behind them.
Announcing the new novel, Welsh told the Guardian: “I’m really, really excited about bringing these characters back.”
The book’s release is earmarked for July 3, 2025, and focusses on a “transitional” period for the group in their mid-twenties described by Welsh as an “interesting time in the lives of men.”
