12:43 Barley Lane
BARLEY LANE shaped with distinct promise when a strong-finishing second in a big-field maiden at Punchestown on his hurdling debut in November and that race has a good history of throwing up useful sorts. He looks a sure-fire improver now stepping down in trip and he sets a good standard on form. Newbrook Diamond has been consistent in placing twice over hurdles, including at this track on debut, while bumper winners Future Prospect and Shadys Lady must be respected now entering this sphere.
13:13 Cumberland River
CUMBERLAND RIVER left the form of his qualifying runs trailing in his wake when running out a comfortable winner on handicap debut at Limerick a fortnight ago, having to pick his way through rivals and finding plenty on the run-in. In receipt of a healthy age allowance, the follow up is firmly on the cards. Ron For Cover did it easily last time but surely won’t be afforded another soft lead this time, so Take Stock could emerge as the chief threat.
13:43 Sortudo
Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott tend to dominate this Grade 1 novice, and the former’s SORTUDO is taken to build on his easy hurdle debut success at Cork. He looked something out of the ordinary on that occasion and has achieved more at this stage than stablemate Saint Baco, who is seemingly the pick of Paul Townend. Classical Creek also created a good impression when winning at Navan on his first start over hurdles and is second choice ahead of I’ll Sort That.
14:13 Hartford
HARTFORD comes from a family well-versed in bumpers and chasing, his half-siblings including smart performers Handstands and Kilconny Bridge and, representing a yard with a solid record in this sphere, he looks the one to side with in a race where the market will likely reveal plenty given there is no form on offer. Quiryn is a half-brother to useful jumper Trapista and represents another stable accomplished with bumpers.
14:43 Kurasso Blue
KURASSO BLUE was value for a bit extra over the result (closed down only late on when race was already in bag) when making his second chase start a winning one at Puchestown last month and looks capable of following up in receipt of weight all round, especially with the prospect of more to come. Bossofthebrownies and Flicker of Hope are solid rivals having also made bright starts to their chasing careers.
15:13 Karamoja
KARAMOJA brings useful hurdles form including a Grade 1 third and should improve significantly for her chase debut at Fairyhouse where she nearly fell at the last. This step up in trip looks ideal for her second attempt over fences and she is still a promising prospect. Gaoth Chuil showed promise in her early chase starts and is the obvious threat if recapturing that form, while Sainte Tartare should appreciate this longer distance.
15:45 McLaurey
MCLAUREY showed plenty as a hurdler last season and has caught the eye in a big way in a pair of maiden chases this winter. There should be a fair bit of improvement in him and, from what looks a potentially lenient mark, he is taken to open his account in this sphere now sent handicapping, though Mount Frisco could be very well-treated also if building on the promise he showed over fences last month. Park That is one to note in the betting now switched to handicaps.
