Two-time Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim dislocated her shoulder before the start of the Winter Games. Kim revealed in an Instagram post that she injured her shoulder after falling while training in Switzerland.
Kim showed the fall in the post and said she is not in much pain and will get an MRI on Friday. The 25-year-old snowboarder also said that she will be ready to go as soon as she gets cleared.

“I am not in much pain. Obviously, I don’t want it to keep popping out, which has happened,” Kim said. “I feel really good about where my snowboarding is at right now, so I know the minute I get cleared and I’m good to go, it should be fine. I’m just hoping that it doesn’t take too long, but I’m going to be chilling for the next little while.”
With the start of the Olympic Games less than a month away, Kim’s injury could not have come at a worse time. Kim is hoping to become the first woman to win three consecutive Olympic gold medals in the halfpipe.
Kim got off to a fast start, winning the halfpipe gold in PyeongChang in 2018 as a 17-year-old. She won halfpipe gold again in Beijing in 2022.

Kim was also the first woman to land a 1260 in snowboard halfpipe after winning her seventh career X Games title in the women’s Superpipe competition in 2024. Kim tied Kelly Clark for the most titles in the event’s history.
Kim has two Olympic gold medals, two world championship titles, seven X Games golds and 10 World Cup victories in 15 starts.
The Winter Games will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, from Feb. 6 to Feb. 22.
