Transport bosses have warned people to avoid several roads around Manchester city centre this evening as two major events are set to take place.

Manchester City will take on Wolves at the Etihad Stadium kicking off at 8pm on Friday (May 2), while across the road, Australian band Chase Atlantic will play at Co-op Live.

Roads in the area are expected to be extremely busy, with the Bee Network urging people to ‘re-time or re-route’ journeys to avoid delays.

Alan Turing Way and Ashton New Road are expected to be exceptionally busy as football fans and concert-goers make their way to the east Manchester arenas.

The major routes are expected to be packed from around 5pm.

In a post on X, the Bee Network said: “This evening [2 May], City play at The Etihad Stadium, whilst Chase Atlantic perform at @TheCoopLive.

“Roads around the arena including Alan Turing Way and Ashton New Road will be very busy from 5pm. Re-time or re-route your journey to avoid delays.”
