The BBC today launches tickets for UNBOXD Live, an immersive event in Birmingham to give young audiences a backstage pass like never before.
Designed for 16 to 24-year-olds and content creators, UNBOXD Live throws open the doors to the BBC, inviting young audiences to step inside the shows, stories and creative worlds they love.
Audiences can face a Mission from series four of The Traitors, step onto the set of their own EastEnders scene, or tear through a Race Across the World speed packing challenge during the event on 5 February in Birmingham.
Hosted at the Secret Space in Digbeth, the industrial warehouse will be transformed into a creative arena packed with interactive zones, live moments and behind-the-scenes access to some of the BBC’s biggest titles.
From the moment guests step through the storytelling entrance tunnel, they’ll be plunged into a world built for discovery, creativity and shareable experiences.
Young people will come together to explore the findings of UNBOXD research, share their voices, explore the BBC’s world-class content and celebrate their role in shaping the BBC’s future.
Visitors can dive into the worlds of their favourite content in different immersive content pods including:
- Take on a real mission featured in The Traitors
- Star in your own EastEnders scene from Albert Square
- Race Across the World speed packing challenge - test your travel ready instincts
- BBC Sport’s Crossbar Challenge - step up and take your shot
- Join the BBC Verify team to uncover how news stories are produced and broadcast
- Have a go at being a Radio 1 Dance DJ, with Radio 1 presenters and producers on hand to show you the ropes
- An exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Race Across the World and a live session on what it’s like to be a contestant on The Traitors.
There will be live sets from Birmingham-based DJs from BBC youth networks, panel chats and creator-focused sessions – all designed to spark curiosity, build skills and inspire the next generation of storytellers. The BBC Early Careers Team will be offering advice on careers, CV building and apprenticeships.
Every pod is engineered for participation, creativity and social sharing, giving guests the tools and space to capture standout content. The event also provides a platform to unveil the UNBOXD Report, revealing the BBC’s research into youth culture, creativity and media habits, and their plans for the future.
Tim Davie, BBC Director-General, says: “UNBOXD Live is an immersive playground, bringing our favourite BBC content and shows to life, and putting younger audiences right at the heart of them.
“It is so important that the BBC remains relevant and supportive of the needs of young people in a fast-changing and often challenging world.”
The event starts at 2pm and will run until 8pm. Tickets are free and available now at bbc.co.uk/showsandtours
Secret Space in Digbeth is a stone’s throw from BBC Birmingham’s new home – The Tea Factory – which will see staff currently based at The Mailbox move to their new base from 2027.
