Zurich Community Trust is partnering with two Leeds-based charities in a three-year initiative worth £20,000 a year to each charity.

The funding will support The Growing Zone and Flourishing Families, as selected by Zurich UK employees.

Flourishing Families Leeds (FFL) is dedicated to supporting vulnerable families through a range of innovative projects including cookery clubs, literacy initiatives and wellbeing support.

Last year WLD featured the cookery group at St Peter’s Primary School in Bramley, which addresses critical issues such as food poverty and poor nutrition, and teaches families how to prepare healthy, low-cost meals from scratch.

These local partnerships form part of a wider commitment, with Zurich Community Trust investing £1,677,000 to support 31 charities across the UK, equivalent to £559,000 each year.

The Growing Zone is a community garden project for people with disabilities or learning needs, will use the funding to remain open and provide essential roles including a project leader, a craft specialist, and an administrator.

Samantha Owen, Interim Head of Zurich Community Trust, said: “At Zurich Community Trust, we believe strong communities start with supporting the people who need it most.

“By partnering with The Growing Zone and Flourishing Families, we’re helping create safe spaces, opportunities, and hope for families and individuals in Leeds. This is about more than funding – it’s about empowering lives and building a healthier, happier future together.”
