Scunthorpe United can update supporters ahead of tomorrow’s Isuzu FA Trophy clash against Clitheroe.

Following a weekend and early part of the week with low temperatures, the frost covers remained on the pitch over the course of the weekend, but were removed on Tuesday ahead of the increase in temperatures and expectation of rain in the middle part of the week.

We can also confirm a precautionary pitch inspection took place at lunchtime on Friday to confirm the playability of the pitch ahead of Saturday’s game. A suitably qualified match official inspected the Attis Arena playing surface, with communication to the appointed match referee Zac Kennard-Kettle. It was deemed that, if the game was to be played today (Friday), the match would be going ahead, and therefore there are currently no concerns.

We have been in close communication with our opposition, Clitheroe FC, and are aware of their departure times in the morning. As such, we will be inspecting the pitch again in the morning to ensure there have been no adverse changes overnight before hopefully giving the team bus from Lancashire the green light to travel at 10.30am, with the supporters buses setting off at a later time.

As always, we consider as many factors as possible when taking into account the decision-making process, with attempting to prevent the majority of supporters travelling unnecessarily at the forefront of our mind – such was the reason for our early postponement last weekend when we were due to play Sutton United.

At this time, we remain confident that the game will go ahead, and look forward to welcoming everyone to the Attis Arena tomorrow afternoon, with tickets available from our FanBase site.
