A man has been arrested after a group males were caught in the process of trying to rob a pub in Co Antrim.

Police received a report of a burglary at licensed premises in the Ballyginniff Road area of Aldergrove, Crumlin.

The PSNI have since issued an appeal seeking witnesses and information following the incident.

Detective Sergeant Monaghan said: “Local officers attended the scene, where they heard banging and smashing coming from inside the building.

“A 44-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary and going equipped for burglary. He remains in police custody at this time.

“Damage was caused to the inside of the property and to gaming machines.

“The man arrested had a number of tools with him and we believe he was accompanied by at least one other male, who made off before our officers arrived.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone with information, including dash-cam, CCTV or other footage, to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 40 of 09/01/26.
