A man whose body was found in the River Medway more than a week after he was last seen has been named.

Police, paramedics and the fire service were called to the Broadway in Maidstone following the discovery of Terry Underhill, 55.

Crews recovered the Maidstone resident’s body last Friday (January 2) and his next of kin have been informed.

The death is being treated as non-suspicious at this stage, and a report is being prepared for the coroner, but officers are now appealing for further information.

The last known sighting of Mr Underhill was at about 9pm on New Year’s Day in Quarry Road, Tovil.

He was wearing a dark grey coat and a navy t-shirt with light grey tracksuit bottoms and black shoes.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen Mr Underhill, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage in the area.

Last week, a witness said the pathway by the Thai Orchid restaurant was taped off.
