Police have recovered a stolen car and made an arrest following swift work in Sandwell yesterday.

Officers were alerted to a vehicle being stolen from outside an address in Grove Vale Avenue, Great Barr, just before 1:45am.

A force spokesperson said: “We spotted the car on Forge Lane around 15 minutes later but it made off from officers. Following a pursuit the vehicle was abandoned and the driver fled.

“However, a 22-year-old man was quickly arrested on Station Road, Handsworth, on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and failing to stop.

“He is currently in custody for questioning. We know the impact of vehicle crime on lives and livelihoods and we’ll always look to identify those involved.”
