The gig is part of a four-concert tour, marking a return for the artist after opening for Khruangbin, and the release of their second album, When Are You Leaving?, last year.
Released by Partisan Records, the album shifts from daydream to reality, revealing the life NoSo longed for post-transition, but reflecting a sense of feeling ‘unseen’.
NoSo grew up in a predominantly white suburb of Chicago.
They studied guitar at USC before turning toward songwriting that explores the complexity of being seen.
The name NoSo comes from a frequently received query of growing up: ‘North or South Korean?’
That search for wholeness cuts through When Are You Leaving?, which wrestles with gender presentation, platonic heartbreak, mental illness and emotional dissonance with both brutal honesty and sly humor.
