Birmingham City Council will grit ‘priority roads and footpaths’ in the aftermath of Storm Goretti.
Work will take place overnight (January 11) after the council called conditions ‘extremely difficult’.
Storm Goretti brought a rare appearance of snow to the city which disrupted travel for many.

On January 9, a number of Birmingham Airport flights were delayed as well as a significant amount of school closures.
Issuing a message to the public, the council said ‘hard-working gritters’ will be on the streets once again.

On social media, Birmingham City Council posted: “As the cold weather continues, our hard-working gritters will be going out again tonight to treat the city’s priority roads, as well as priority footpaths from 4am tomorrow morning.
“Our gritters treat more than 700 miles of priority roads – nearly 50% of the total length of all roads within the city.

“Conditions remain extremely difficult, especially across untreated side and residential roads.
“We urge people to take care when travelling if possible.”
