Police swoop on Edinburgh Tesco after ‘weapon’ incident
Armed officers descended on a capital supermarket after an alleged weapon incident. A video of the scene was shot at the Tesco Extra store in Corstorphine, Edinburgh.
A massive police presence was recorded at the shop on Friday January 9. Several police vehicles can be seen at the front of the superstore.
A string of officers were present at the scene. Among the cops at the Tesco were black-clad armed officers, the Daily Record reports.
Police were called to the store on Meadow Place Road just after 4pm after concerns were raised for a woman with an alleged weapon. A 20-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection.
In a video clip of the police response, one officer can be seen directing the person filming away from the scene as shoppers look on, pushing trolleys around the police vans.
Police Scotland told the Record armed officers attended as a precaution. The 20-year-old woman has since been released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date.
A spokeswoman told the Record: “Around 4.10pm on Friday, January 9, we received a report of concern for a person with a weapon at Meadow Place Road, Edinburgh.
“Emergency services attended and a 20-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection and released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date.”
