Busby Primary School in is celebrating its 150th anniversary later this month, having first opened its doors on January 29, 1876.

The school is the oldest in the area and has been a central part of the community for generations.

Despite its age, the building still retains many original features, including the headmaster’s desk, which will be showcased during the celebrations.

Gillian McRobb, headteacher at school, said: “Busby Primary has been at the heart of this community for a century and a half, and that’s something truly special.

“Our pupils are excited to bring the school’s story to life, and we’d love former pupils and local residents to share their memories and help make this celebration unforgettable.”

The school is inviting members of the public to share photographs, stories, and memories of their time at Busby Primary to help shape the event.

A special day of celebration will be held to mark the anniversary, with each classroom transformed to represent a different decade from the school’s history.

This immersive approach will offer pupils and visitors a unique glimpse into what life at Busby Primary would have been like over the past 150 years.
