The Crypt at St Peter’s Church is turning into a stage to host a range of live music on Saturday 31st January for just £2.50 per ticket.
Underground the historic church is a secret crypt designed by one of England’s most celebrated architects, Sir John Soane.
Rock the Crypt will welcome South London bands: Floating Poets & The Kanz, Kitty Churchfield, The Callbirds, and Alex Keevill of The Microdance.
The event is part on the Building Beyond Project, which is an appeal for donations to help restorations in the Church as part of its 200 anniversary celebrations.
The Crypt is one of three buildings built by Soane in London. It is Grade 1 listed and one of Southwark’s most significant heritage assets. It’s one of only three other Grade 1 listed buildings in the Borough, including Tower Bridge.
Two bombs hit St.Peter’s Church during The Blitz, whilst local residents were taking shelter in the Crypt. Sadly, sixty-seven people died that night and many more were injured.
Tickets are priced affordably at just £5, but they have a 2-for-1 deal on at the moment, meaning they are just £2.50 as part of their early bird deal.
There is an option at checkout to add a further donation to the Church which will be put towards the rebuilding project.
