‘Unexpected incident’ left homes without power today

Almost 800 properties in south Manchester have been left without electricity today (January 11). Around 778 properties in Levenshulme were hit by a power cut that has lasted for hours.
The outage was first reported at around 2pm. According to Electricity North West, the power cut was caused by an ‘unexpected incident with an underground cable’ in the area.
Engineers are currently on the scene and power is expected to return just before 2am tomorrow (Monday, January 12).
Electricity North West said: “This power cut has been caused by an unexpected incident with the underground cable that provides electricity to your home or business.
“We didn’t know before your electricity went off that this was going to happen but now, we know, rest assured we will get your power back on safely and as quickly as possible.”
