A mental health charity has enacted contingency plans to minimise disruption as more than 100 staff members prepare to strike this week.
Second Step, which is based on Pennywell Road, confirmed 112 employees would walk out for four days from Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Second Step said: “While we respect the right of union members to take lawful industrial action and remain committed to constructive conversations with Unison, our main priority remains maintaining safe, continuous support for the people who rely on our services every day.”
They added team managers would support colleagues who were working to ensure continued service during the walkouts tomorrow and Wednesday and Wednesday and Thursday next week.
Tim Roberts, South West Unison’s regional secretary, said: “Workers want to focus on supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties, not worrying about how they will pay their bills.”
Second Step – which works with the NHS and other organisations to provide a range of mental health services – thanked clients for their patience during the industrial action.
