Weight loss injections have become widely popular across the country with people using the medication as a way to shed the pounds. Currently it is estimated that around 1.5million people are already using them each month.

While many people with the goal of losing weight will try and focus on making lifestyle changes to their diet and exercise, some people are hoping to avoid this step by taking the injections instead. However, many people have to go through specialist weight management services to get the medication.

At the moment, it is reported that 28 per cent adults in the UK are now classified as obese, with a further 30 per cent overweight. While many of these people may consider trying a weight loss medication if they are eligible, people need to be aware of the potential dangers, reports the Express.

While the injections can help you reduce your appetite, many people cannot rely on the drug alone. If patients don’t implement changes to their lifestyle, studies have found that users will quickly regain weight after they stop using the medication.

Mike Wakeman, a researcher, pharmacist and founder of Evera Nutrition, said: “These medicines primarily work by increasing levels of two hormones in the gut – GLP-1 and GiP – which reduce appetite, increase a feeling of fullness and slow gastric emptying. The problem is that many people rely on medication alone.

“However, stress, poor sleep, alcohol misuse, binge eating, and even certain medications or hormonal and medical conditions such as an underactive thyroid are often overlooked when it comes to weight issues. If these problems are not managed, they will still be problematic at the end of treatment and likely cause rebound weight gain.”

He goes on to warn: “New research has found that after stopping weight loss injections, participants regained almost all prior weight loss over the following year. Side effects are also common, including nausea, vomiting, constipation, and reflux.

“Other more serious issues include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems and depression in some individuals. Muscle wastage also occurs as a result of rapid weight loss, plus losing hair and sight has been another issue associated with the usage of weight loss injections.”

In order to provide people with a natural way to lose weight that won’t bring along all of the worrying side effects of the injections, health professionals have found an increasing amount of research which highlights which specific natural compounds can facilitate a healthy weight reduction.

However, while these won’t have adverse effects, the professionals do warn that these need to be taken alongside lifestyle and dietary changes for it to be successful.

Mike explained: “The good news is that natural ingredients can mimic the GLP, such as Glucomannan (a type of fibre), Resveratrol, Hibiscus, Green Tea, Berberine, Curcumin, Cinnamon and Mulberry.

These ingredients are uniquely combined in New Evera Nutrition Go Lean Plus, which has been formulated to support appetite control, satiety and metabolic health alongside healthy eating and regular exercise.”
