Marc Guehi could soon have a huge decision to make over his future as reports suggest he could receive a transfer offer next week.

The Crystal Palace defender’s future is the subject of seemingly endless speculation this month, with Liverpool right in the thick of it. The Reds of course came close to signing Guehi in the summer, only to see the move collapse at the eleventh hour of deadline day.

That failure could well come back to haunt the club, with more clubs now in the race as the 25-year-old enters the final few months of his contract at Selhurst Park.

Manchester City and Arsenal both look to be in the running now. The former has been installed as the new favorite for his signature in some quarters, while the latter has thrown its hat into the ring as Mikel Arteta looks to add to his defensive options.

Liverpool may still hold an advantage though, with Guehi said to still prefer a move to Anfield over City at the very least. The Athletic’s Sam Lee told the Let Me Talk podcast that the England international is favoring staying put at Palace until the end of the season, when the Reds and Arsenal could be the frontrunners to sign him for free.

That stance could be about to be put to the test though. According to Fabrizio Romano, Guehi is about to receive an offer to join City.

It’s claimed that the Etihad club wants to “make an important proposal” during the current window, and will try “next week” to convince him to join Pep Guardiola’s side.

The decision would come down to Guehi, with City supposedly seeing no problems with making an agreement with Crystal Palace. The player’s plan though is said to have always been to leave Selhurst Park on a free in the summer.

Bayern Munich is also claimed to be holding meetings with Guehi. The German club holds an advantage over its Premier League rivals, given that it is able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement ahead of the summer as a foreign club.

Guehi could therefore need to make a decision on his future very soon, with speculation only likely to ramp up before the window closes on February 2.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner has left the door open for Guehi to move on this month, although the Austrian is still expecting his captain to see out his contract.

“I think Marc will stay but if Marc says ‘I want to leave’, and a club pays massive money – with five months left of a contract – every player will leave if you’re playing for a club like Crystal Palace,” he told Sky Sports.

“I’m pretty sure our chairman will ask for a very high price for him and then let’s see. I don’t know if Marc wants to leave.”
