Here at T&C, we pride ourselves on our discerning eye for quality. With Tried & True, our editors will give you an inside look at the pieces they simply cannot live without.
I vividly remember the first time I was allowed to wear makeup. I must have been about 6 years old, and it was for a ballet performance. I was an angel in The Nutcracker, who danced alongside Clara as she traveled to the Land of the Sweets. At that point, I was far more excited by the prospect of wearing mascara, eyeshadow, and blush than any of the steps I would be doing onstage.
Lancôme ‘Définicils’ High Definition Mascara
The color on my cheeks was a garish shade of pink—designed to show up under the bright lights—and it was matched by some very ‘90s blue eyeshadow swiped across my lids. The mascara was decidedly less intense, but it made me feel grown up all the same because it was the same kind my mom always used.
Three decades later, I still use that brand of mascara. Lancôme Definicils is my go-to for an everyday, casual makeup routine. The formula lengthens and defines for a doe-eyed your-lashes-but-better-look, but it isn’t too much.
It’s subtle, but that’s why I like it. I have other mascaras in my beauty arsenal for a bombshell false lashes vibe, but Définicils is great for work and essential for a no makeup makeup kind of look. Because nothing says Tried & True like a product that’s been a classic for more than three decades.
