
Police in west Belfast are investigating a hit-and-run collision involving a dog on the Shaws Road.
The incident occurred at approximately 5pm on Saturday (10 January), and involved a white Volkswagen Passat and a small dog.
The vehicle collided with the dog and failed to stop at the scene.
Officers attended the location and took the dog to a local veterinary practice for treatment.
Police have thanked two members of the public who stopped to offer assistance following the collision.
Police are appealing for the owner of the dog to come forward. Anyone who believes the dog may be theirs is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1056 of 10 January 2026.
