A THRIFTY Warrington resident has shared her money-making tips in a new Channel 4 documentary alongside a popular TV personality.

Becky Chorlton is one of Warrington’s thriftiest residents, working full time as a reseller and sharing her tips and tricks online.

The 27-year-old has been reselling items bought at car boot sales, charity shops and auctions and last year made around £85,000.

Becky, who is originally from Great Sankey, was approached by Channel 4 producers to star in a new documentary alongside Scarlett Moffatt last year.

Can You Make £10k in 10 Days sees the TV star try to make as much money as she can through side hustles, including reselling.

The 27-year-old helped Scarlett get started by sharing her useful tips for bargain hunting and how to sell them for a profit.

“I think the producers had seen my social media,” she said.

“We filmed for about half a day in a pub somewhere and she went away and used the tips I gave her to make as much money as possible.”

The 27-year-old filmed with Scarlett in August and says the TV star was even nicer in person than she appears on screen.

“I was so nervous, because Scarlett is so lovely on TV I was worried she might not be like that in real life,” she said.

“But honestly, she was lovely. She made me feel so at ease. She gave me all her tips and tricks on how to get through it and breathe.

“She actually messaged me after we shot the programme, letting me know how she was getting on at the car boot sale.

“She was even nicer off screen than she is on screen, which I don’t even know how that’s possible.”

Becky told Scarlett that she uses Vinted and a livestream auction app called What Not, which can help her make around £15,000 in just an hour and a half through auctioning her items.

Scarlett, who is best known as a TV presenter and Gogglebox star, then went to a car boot sale herself to try and make a profit using Becky’s tips.

While it wasn’t Becky’s first TV appearance, the 27-year-old still feels that the opportunities from her business are beyond what she could have dreamed.

“The opportunities are endless,” she said.

“If I’d have told myself five years, I don’t think I’d have believed myself.”

For those wanting to try some of Becky’s tips themselves, she recommends several spots in Warrington to bargain bunt.

“Personally, I love Warrington’s Car Boot Sale,” she said.

“I also love the charity shops at Riverside Retail Park.

“I think my biggest tip is Facebook, finding events and joining groups because that’s how we know what’s on and where it is.”
