Dominik Szoboszlai may have given away one of the worst-ever Anfield goals against Barnsley, but Liverpool’s leading Player of the Year contender once again got top marks.
The Reds eased into the fourth round of the FA Cup on Monday evening, with substitutes Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike among the goalscorers.
Here we compare our player ratings with those of the Liverpool Echo, GOAL and the TIA readers.

Szoboszlai (7.40) has been Liverpool’s best and most consistent player all season and he topped the ratings yet again at Anfield.
The Hungarian’s Steven Gerrard-esque strike gave Arne Slot‘s side the lead and he impressed in both midfield and at right-back.
Ian Doyle of the Echo said Szoboszlai “did well” at both ends of the pitch, even though his “absolutely horrific” error gifted Barnsley a goal back.

Jeremie Frimpong (7.00) was the only other player to average a seven-out-of-10 score or above, showing that it wasn’t a classic Liverpool performance.
The right-back’s goal was superbly taken, with This Is Anfield‘s Joanna Durkan describing it as “thunderous.”
Joe Gomez (5.05) looked off the pace and got the lowest rating for the Reds, with GOAL’s Richie Mills highlighting a “very shaky start” from the Englishman.
What the stats say

According to FotMob, Szoboszlai was also Liverpool’s standout figure statistics-wise, earning a 9.2 and making the most defensive contributions (eight).
He had a whopping 138 touches and completed 94 percent of his passes – and no player on either side had more shots than his tally of three.
Intriguingly, Virgil van Dijk had the same number, with the skipper also enjoying a 93 percent pass completion rate.
Frimpong may have scored, but he also only won one out of five ground duels, showing that improvements are still needed from the Dutchman.
