A man was taken to hospital after a member of the public rescued him from the water at Bristol harbourside.
Emergency services were called to the area near Cascade Steps yesterday afternoon (Monday, January 12) after a man was seen in the water.
A heroic member of the public had already rescued the man before police officers arrived at the scene.
The man was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary by ambulance before being checked by medics and later discharged.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 15:12hrs on Monday 12 January to an incident in Bristol.
“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer and the hazardous area response team to the scene.
“We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Bristol Royal Infirmary.”
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We received a report of a man in the water at the Bristol Harbourside at 3.12pm.
“Officers arrived at the scene approximately 10 minutes after the man had been rescued by a member of the public.
“The man was checked over by medics in hospital before being discharged.”
Footage shared on social media showed several people throwing the man lifebuoys near the floating bar Under the Stars.
