Romantic sitcom Boy Meets Girl starring Rebecca Root has just found a new streaming home in the UK. Originally aired in 2015, the comedy follows Root’s character Judy, a trans woman who’s approaching 40, as she embarks on a romance with 26-year-old Leo (Harry Hepple).

The Newcastle-set show, which ran for two seasons, is now available to stream on Prime Video in the UK.

Cast for the “quietly revolutionary” sitcom, that’s earned comparisons to Gavin and Stacey (via The Guardian), also features Denise Welch as Leo’s mum Pam, Nigel Betts as his dad Tony and Jonny Dixon as his brother James.

Rounding out the hilarious, likeable ensemble are Vineeta Rishi as Anji, Lizzie Roper as Judy’s sister Jackie, and Janine Duvitski as her mother Peggy.

Created by Elliott Kerrigan, the show has earned positive reviews from fans on IMDb, with one person calling it “sweet, smart, and laugh-out-loud funny”.

“Boy meets Girl has given us some genuine laughs, it’s funny and truly entertaining, but there’s also a story to it, it feels like it’s doing more then just making laughs,” someone else wrote.

“One of the funniest and [most] heartwarming comedies I have seen in ages, absolutely brilliant,” a third fan enthused.

Also recently added to Prime Video in the UK is 2013 British drama The Crash, inspired by a real-life, fatal car crash involving a group of young friends.

“Packed with twists and turns, this powerful story pieces together the chain of events that led up to the crash and reveals how the devastating effects of the accident tore through the lives of the teenagers, their friends, and their families,” the synopsis reads.
