A well-known TV personality and fitness guru has teamed up with two businessmen in Haverhill to promote a new venture.

The Gainsborough Spa & Health Club (Gainsborough Spa), between Clare and Cavendish, near Sudbury, secured a new partnership with The Body Coach app, founded by fitness icon Joe Wicks.

The partnership means that premium members at the Gainsborough Spa – part of The Vibe Collection that includes Haverhill businesses Tiger Fusion, The Suffolk Hotel and Salon Nine – will benefit from access to the Body Coach app as part of their membership, combining digital fitness programmes with in-club training, spa facilities and a full-service health club experience.

The Body Coach app has recently secured investment from ITV, underlining its position as one of the UK’s leading digital fitness platforms and bringing national fitness expertise into a local, premium spa and health club setting.

James Pilley, who co-owns the Gainsborough Spa & Health Club with his father Dan, after taking over the business last summer, said the partnership reflects how expectations around fitness and wellbeing are changing.

“People want flexibility when it comes to their health and fitness, but they also want quality and guidance they can trust,” said James.

“By integrating the Body Coach app into our premium membership, we’re giving members access to a fitness platform they already recognise, alongside the facilities, support and atmosphere of a dedicated spa and health club.”

Dan Pilley, James’s father and co-owner, explained how the partnership came about following a chance meeting with Joe Wicks at a business event.

“I met Joe at a business event last autumn and shared what James and I were building after taking over, essentially, a spa and health club focused on long-term wellbeing, not quick fixes,” said Dan.

“We later bumped into each other again and the conversation naturally continued. The values aligned and it grew from there into something that genuinely benefits members and is a real differentiator for the venue. It is also a great perk for our highly valued team members across the VIBE Collection who can access the facilities too.

“For anyone thinking about making a positive change this year, we’d encourage them to come and see what this fantastic venue offers by booking a complimentary tour.”

To mark the launch, the Gainsborough Spa & Health Club is inviting local residents to book a complimentary tour, which includes the opportunity to use the facilities and explore whether premium membership is the right fit for their New Year health goals.
