The proposed development will be located on open space on Commercial Road to the south of St John’s Primary School and will be delivered by construction company CCG (Scotland) Ltd for East Renfrewshire Council (ERC).

It hopes to provide approximately 70 homes for affordable rent, including a mix of houses and flats, ranging in size from one to three bedrooms.

The consultation forms part of the Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) process to provide information on the potential development.

Mast Architects, who are among those designing the project, said: “The house mix will be agreed with ERC based on demand across the local area and will include a number of accessible homes for wheelchair users.

“Initial proposals for the site are based around a number of two storey terraced and semi-detached housing blocks, with flatted blocks being used to address the existing level changes on Commercial Road and within the site.”

The proposals are in the early stages of development and as such, the built form and aesthetics are not yet designed.

According to Mast, the blocks will, however, be positioned to create areas of amenity and greenspace.

Each house will have a private rear garden, whilst each flatted block will have its own dedicated amenity space incorporating areas for clothes drying and refuse storage.

The PAN associated with the development was submitted to ERC in November.

An information event was hosted on December 9 at St John’s Primary on Commercial Road.

The first in-person consultation event, hosted by Mast Architects, will take place at St John’s on Tuesday, January 20 from 3.30pm to 7pm.

At this event, updated proposals will be tabled which reflect points raised during the information event.

The second in-person consultation event will be held on Thursday, February 5 from 3.30pm to 7pm.

This final public event will provide feedback to members of the public in respect of comments received by the prospective applicant regarding the proposed development.

Mast Architects added: “We are eager to obtain your feedback on the proposed development.

“All comments and feedback will be reviewed and taken into consideration prior to a formal planning application being lodged with ERC.”

Those unable to attend either event can view the proposals and submit feedback online here.

The deadline to submit comments online is February 10.
