TWO people have been arrested and charged in connection with two attempted robberies in broad daylight in Edinburgh. 

The pair are accused of robbing a premises on Colinton Mains Drive after 9am on Monday morning and swiftly moving on to another robbery, this time on Oxgangs Road North. 

No one was injured, but the 18-year-old woman and 24-year-old appeared at Edinburgh Sherriff Court today. 

Police initially asked members of the public “not to speculate on the circumstances” due to reports of “inaccurate information” spreading around regarding the incidents.

At around 9:30am on Monday morning, police responded to a report of an attempted robbery at the premises on Colinton Mains Drive in the south of Edinburgh. 

Just 20 minutes later, police received a second report of attempted robbery, this time on Oxgangs Road North. 

There were no injuries during either robbery. 

Officers responded to each incident and have now arrested the man and woman in connection with the crime. 

Detective inspector Alan Sharp said: “I want to thank members of the public who assisted with these incidents before officers arrived and the local community for their support during our enquiries.” 

Police said that specialist resources remained on each scene for some time following their response. 

They previously asked the public not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding the incidents. 

Following the incident, inspector Paul Begley said: “We’re aware of inaccurate information being shared regarding these incidents. 

“I’d ask the public not to speculate on the circumstances but be reassured officers are in the area and there have been no reports of injuries.  

“Anyone with information or concerns can approach these officers or call us on 101.”
