Police have made an arrest after a woman was rushed to hospital following an alleged “hit and run” in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Birgidale Road, at Downcraig Road, in Castlemilk after the alarm was raised at around 10.25am on Friday. Officers were responding to reports of a 31-year-old woman having been knocked down by a car.

Ambulance crews attended and she was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. Her condition currently remains unknown.

As reported by Glasgow Live, police remained in the area in an attempt to trace the driver.

Officers have now confirmed that a 33-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident. Their enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.25am on Friday, May 2, 2025, we received a report of a 31-year-old woman struck by a car on Brigidale Road at Downcraig Road, Castlemilk.

“She was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. A 33-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.”
