A beloved neighbourhood pizzeria has been forced to close its doors due to “rising costs.” The beloved Italian is inspired by nonnas – Italian grandmothers known for making home-cooked food with love.

Mamma Dough has been part of the community in Sydenham since 2018. The London-based chain also has locations in Brixton, Ladywell and South Norwood. The company fell into administration in December 2022 before it was acquired by London Dough Co.

Now, Mamma Dough has announced its “difficult decision” to close its Sydenham branch due to “rising costs” which it can no longer keep-up-with.

A spokesperson for the venue said in a statement: “After much thought, we have made the difficult decision to close our Sydenham Mamma Dough.

“We have truly loved being part of the local community and serving so many of you over the years. However, rising costs mean that we can no longer afford to keep the Sydenham site open. As an independent business, these decisions are never taken lightly.

“Local support means everything to us, and we are incredibly grateful to every guest who chose to eat with us, order from us, and support us along the way.

“We’re proud to say that all members of our Sydenham team have been looked after and remain within the business.”

It thanked its customers, landlord and team for all their work and support. Mamma Dough has reassured Londoners that they can still enjoy their pizzas at any of their other restaurants across the capital, with delivery also available.
