Police Scotland has issued an update this morning, January 15, after a street in the north of Glasgow was evacuated following a report of a possible chemical leak.

Emergency services were dispatched to Killearn Street in Possilpark at around 5.50pm on Wednesday, January 14. Images shared with Glasgow Live show police officers and fire crews on scene, with a cordon erected.

Nearby properties were evacuated for a short time as a precaution and one person received treatment at the scene, police confirmed.

Following enquiries, it was established there was no chemical leak and no risk to the wider public. Residents were able to return to their homes in the evening.

In an update this morning, a spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 5.50pm on Wednesday, 14 January, 2026, we received a report of a possible chemical leak at a property in Killearn Street.

“Emergency services attended and nearby properties were evacuated for a short time as a precaution and one person received treatment at the scene.

“Enquiries were carried out and it was established there was no chemical leak. There was no risk to the wider public.”
