Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors found Eldene Surgery in Colingsmead, Swindon, during a recent inspection.

The service delivers care to approximately 8,300 people under a contract held with NHS England.

The CQC conducted an inspection from October 13 to October 16, 2025. Inspectors found that the service had a good learning culture and encouraged people to raise concerns.

“Leaders investigated incidents thoroughly. People were protected and kept safe,” the report noted. Staff understood and managed risks effectively, ensuring safety at the facility, which was clean and well-maintained.

The level of staff present was adequate, with the right skills and qualifications to provide high-quality care.

Staff received ongoing training and regular appraisals to enhance their performance.

“Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes,” the report stated.

Assessment of patients’ needs was thorough, taking into account communication, personal preferences, and health requirements.

“Care was based on latest evidence and good practice.”

Staff collaborated with various agencies to secure the best outcomes for patients.

Importantly, they ensured that patients understood their care and treatment to enable informed consent.

People reported being treated with kindness and compassion at Eldene Surgery.

Staff protected their privacy and dignity, and individuals were regarded as unique, with their care preferences acknowledged.

“People had choice in their care and treatment,” inspectors found.

The service placed emphasis on equity, working to eliminate discrimination in healthcare access.

Patients reported receiving fair treatment, and they were actively involved in their care planning.

The service made information accessible and encouraged feedback, which was taken seriously.
