Oxford United have signed Yunus Konak on loan from Premier League side Brentford for the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old defensive midfielder is the U’s third signing of the January transfer window and the first addition since new head coach Matt Bloomfield took over less than a week ago.

Konak joined Brentford in 2024 and has since made 14 appearances for the Bees as well as playing eight times for the under-21 side.

Moving to Brentford was his first club footballing venture outside of Turkey where he played for Sivasspor before making the switch to England.

He has also represented Turkey at under-18s and under-21s level.

“I think he’s a player with high potential and a big future,” Oxford boss Bloomfield told BBC Radio Oxford.

“He’s someone who the club got close to in the summer and someone they’ve been monitoring for a while, I know the guys at Brentford and they speak so highly of Yunus.

“I think that his freshness and that athleticism can really help us where we need it.”
