Edinburgh is set for a cold snap next week with temperatures plummeting to 3C following the hottest day of the year so far being recorded this week.

The country basked in temperatures of over 22C on Wednesday and many of us thought summer had officially arrived early. However, according to BBC Weather, the weather is to turn yet again.

Despite largely sunny and dry spells next week, temperatures through the night and early morning on Sunday and Monday will drop to around 3C, but climb to 14C and 15C during the day.

On the flip side, Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10, will see highs of 17C and bright sunshine.

Forecasters at BBC say: “Saturday will become cloudy in the north early with a few light showers in spots. Dry in the south with a mix of variable clouds and sunny spells. Breezy, with a northerly wind developing.

“Mainly cloudy with light showers in the north and east on Sunday, but mostly dry with the odd bright spell elsewhere. Even cooler.

“Monday looks to be dry and largely sunny, although far northern areas and initially some eastern areas may see cloud. Tuesday should continue dry with variable cloud and sunny spells. Temperatures rising a little into next week.”
