Truck spotted hauling a blazing barrel along a road in Sheffield
A flatbed truck was spotted racing down a Sheffield road with the driver seemingly unaware that they had a barrel on fire in the back.
The footage was captured by a concerned passenger along Sheffield Road in Hackenthorpe at around 4:30pm yesterday (Thursday, January 15) after they spotted a barrel on the back of the truck ablaze.
The car was reported to be driving with the barrel visibly on fire before racing through an amber light; flames were seen emerging from the top of the barrel as the vehicle sped off down the street.
The worried passengers were left stuck at a red light, while they watched the van drive away with the back of the truck’s cargo still on fire. The fire was spotted during rush hour, with wet road conditions and reduced visibility adding to the danger, as the pickup turned a corner out of the passenger’s view.
It is currently unclear where the vehicle was heading or whether emergency services were alerted; however, South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services have been contacted for more information.
