According to esteemed rumour monger Tom Henderson, the long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was due to release, well, today – on 16th January, 2026.
But, well, it’s not looking likely, is it?
As we write this, we’re already deep into the day, and not a peep from French publisher Ubisoft. We think the sands of time on this particular rumour are running out.
There had been rumours that the title may be re-revealed at The Game Awards, but that was ruled out prior to Geoff Keighley’s show. Meanwhile, a slew of fake stories have come and gone over the past month or so – some of them fooling even us.
To be fair to Henderson, it’s possible 16th January was a targeted release date at one point, but plans can change internally. Perhaps the publisher didn’t feel it was the right time – or maybe the game still needs a bit more work.
Either way, we don’t think we’ll be waiting too much longer for this title. It’s been several years since its originally intended release date, and while we appreciate development has been rebooted since then, we’d put money on an early 2026 release.
Just not today, it seems.
