Ten police cars and a number of armed officers have been called to to a shooting in Greater Manchester.
Police have said one person has been left with serious injuries and was treated at the scene following the reported shooting in Urmston town centre, greater Manchester, earlier this evening.
A police spokesperson said: “At around 8.42pm this evening, we were called to reports of a firearms discharge on Higher Road, Urmston. Emergency services have treated one casualty at the scene with serious injuries.

“A scene is in place and remains closed off to the public. Extra patrols have been deployed around the local area while we continue our enquiries.” At least one armed officer remains at the scene and there are numerous reports on social media suggesting a police helicopter is circling overhead.
A witness has said an ambulance is inside the cordon. They told the ManchesterEveningNews: “Looks like there’s a coat or a jacket of some kind, there’s an ambulance right in front of it, a first response. It looks like the feathers or whatever it is inside the padding is all over the road so someone must have been treated.”.
Crime Scene Investigators have now arrived at Higher Road, where the cordon is in place.
