Coronation Street fans think Megan Walsh has been ‘clocked’ by another Weatherfield resident as some pondered whether she could be the victim of an upcoming ‘murder’.
It was revealed by the ITV soap’s producer Kate Brooks that a major new storyline that will see a Weatherfield resident killed in a flashforward sequence, but viewers won’t know who it is. The one-off episode, which will air in February, will see an unknown character dead on the street before revealing the five potential victims it could be, in what has been described as a complicated and intricate storyline.
Sharing details for the first time, Corrie’s producer Kate Brooks told the Manchester Evening News: “This is something that’s been in the making for a really long time. There are five potential victims, and we will take the audience on a journey to try and figure out who that body is and what happened. It is a who have they done it to, not a whodunit.”
She said the special episode will give the stories currently running a destination point, and added: “I don’t think I’ve ever told a story that involves quite as many character groups. Everyone’s impacted – everyone’s affected by this story. There’s so many twists and so many turns.”
And some Corrie fans think Megan could be in the firing line. Following her first appearance on the cobbles last year, it was quickly revealed that Megan had been carrying out an illicit affair with Will, who only just turned sixteen.
Now, Megan is trying to portray a perfect image, having been welcomed by the Driscoll family, who moved to the Street back in October when Ben purchased the Rovers Return for Eva Price, who returned to Weatherfield after seven years as the pub’s new landlady, and has struck up a romance with Daniel Osbourne to cover her tracks.
Earlier this week in the long-running show, Megan was mortified when Daniel’s son, Bertie, pulled out the test in front of Daniel, as well as Ken Barlow, Alya Nazir and Kirk Sutherland at No.1. Seeing Daniel’s reaction, Megan quickly hurried out. She was followed by Alya who tried to show her support and encouraged her to join them in the pub.
She ended up having a chat with Daniel, he explained to Megan about what he went through with his ex, Daisy Midgeley, and Megan continued to insist that the test was for a student at school and suggested they drop the issue.

But in Friday’s (January 16) episode, it is confirmed that Megan is pregnant, and Eva and Leanne are concerned to find Megan sobbing in Victoria Garden. Megan confirms that she’s pregnant but has already booked herself in for an abortion later that day. Leanne and Eva suggest that she could confide in Daniel as they know he’d support her, but she refuses, even though it could be her only chance to be a mum as she explains to the women that she has polycystic ovaries which can make it difficult to conceive.
Still worried about Daniel’s reaction, Megan sticks to her decision and later, Leanne joins her at the abortion clinic. But she reminds her again that it’s not too late to change her mind. Despite her concerns that she may not fall pregnant again, Megan heads inside when she’s called for her appointment. Later, joining Daniel at the Bistor, Megan orders a water rather than alcohol, leaving those watching to wonder if she went through with the abortion.
Meanwhile, Corrie fans have pondered whether Megan could be the one who ends up killed in the flashforward, or whether Leanne could be the one to figure out what she’s been up to.
