An air rifle and machete were discovered after police stopped a car in south Belfast.
Two men are in custody after the incident in the Agincourt Avenue area of Belfast last night.
A quantity of drugs was also found by police linked to the same incident.
Sergeant Kennedy said: “Officers on patrol in south Belfast stopped the vehicle after checks on police systems showed that it was uninsured.
“When they spoke to the driver, a 27-year-old man, he disclosed that there was an air rifle in the boot of the car. A subsequent search uncovered a number of other items including a machete.
“He was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including possession of an offensive weapon.
“Tactical Support Group colleagues then searched a residential address. A quantity of suspected class A and class B drugs were seized, along with cash.
“A second man, aged 21, was arrested on suspicion of a number of drug related offences including possession of a class A controlled drug with intent to supply.
“Both men remain in custody at this time, assisting with our enquiries.”

Sergeant Kennedy continued: “This was excellent work from our officers. Their actions led to the removal of the suspected drugs from circulation.
“We know that drugs cause nothing but misery to individuals, families and communities and we remain focused on identifying those involved in the drugs trade locally and shutting down their activities.”
