Prices are at their lowest since June 2021

The average price of petrol in Northern Ireland has fallen to its lowest point in almost five years. New figures from the Consumer Council shows diesel and home heating oil prices have also fallen in the past week.
The Consumer Council’s Fuel Price Checker shows the average price of petrol is currently 125.7p per litre, down from 126.6p last week. This is also the lowest price since June 2021.
Additionally, the average price of diesel is currently 133.2p, down from 134.3p last week. The price of fuel varies depending on whereabouts in Northern Ireland you are, with costs in some areas much lower than others.

Carrickfergus is currently the cheapest place to fuel up, with the average petrol price here 122.6p, 3.1p below the Northern Ireland average. The most expensive petrol prices can currently be found in Antrim, where prices are 3.2p above average at 128.9p.
The cheapest places for diesel this week are Downpatrick and Omagh, where prices are 3.3p below average at around 129.9p. Strabane has the most expensive diesel prices, coming in at 2.7p above average at 135.9p this week.
The price of home heating oil is also down this week, after jumping up last week due to the freezing weather. Currently, 300 litres of home heating oil costs an average of £192.13, 500 litres at around £294.67, and 900 litres at £517.54.
In looking for the best deal on home heating oil, the Consumer Council advises customers to shop around different suppliers, and to buy in bulk.
They also remind consumers that prices fluctuate daily, with costs impacted by global events and international supply chains.
