A 13-year-old boy rushed to hospital after being attacked in a city park is recovering from his injuries.

The teenager was assaulted in Kingstanding Circle Park, a play area located inside Wheeldon Recreation Ground, at around 5.30pm on Monday, April 14.

He suffered serious injuries in the attack and was rushed to hospital by land ambulance.

Police later said his injuries were not life-threatening.

No further details were provided on the attack.

In a new update, West Midlands Police said the youngster was “continuing to recover from his injuries”.

The force previously said: “We’re investigating after a boy, aged 13, was assaulted in Kingstanding on April 14.

“We were called to Kingstanding Circle Park at around 5.30pm and the boy was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

“Our investigation is at an early stage and detectives are speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV from around the area.”

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson told BirminghamLive: “We were called to reports of an assault on Kingstanding Road in Birmingham just after 5.50pm.

“An ambulance was sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a boy.

“He was treated for serious injuries and conveyed to hospital under emergency road conditions.”
