JD Wetherspoon is set to expand its footprint in Edinburgh with a new 485-capacity pub in the city’s Old Town.

The group has secured licensing approval for the Chambers Street site, which formerly housed the Revolution cocktail bar before its closure in summer 2024. The premises are located close to the National Museum of Scotland and the University of Edinburgh, in an area popular with both residents and tourists with an opening date to be confirmed.

The venue will become the chain’s eighth in the capital, including existing pubs in George Street, Lothian Road, and Waverley Station. with the pub group progressing plans for another new outlet at Fountain Park, where it has taken over the unit previously occupied by McCowan’s Brewhouse.
